trouble letting windows down

working on a 72 chevy pickup, windows are extremely hard to roll down, seems like the window is tilting as it goes down causing the rear edge to grab into the rear channel liner.regulators have been replaced with aftermarket .I was wondering if someone had any original regulators they could measure the size of the rollers.I am curious if they are close in size.seems like there might be excessive play in the tracks. thanks.

Re: trouble letting windows down

Have you replaced the window channel felt? it needs to be fitted all the way down the channel inside the door, there is also a tiny amount of adjustment on the channel if you undo the screws at the bottom you can move the channel in and out slightly for a little extra adjustment.

Re: trouble letting windows down

I don't have access to my originals any more, they are off to the scrap yard. I replaced all of the felt first and then could barely roll mine down or up. After that I bought new regulators from LMC and now I can roll them up or down with thumb and finger. I honestly didn't know they could work that good. If all of the stuff is new then is there a possibility that the window frame is bent in relation to the rest of the door? Also did you clean the gunk out of the tracks and put some fresh lube in them while they were apart?

I also spray new felts with some silicone lube.It seems to let the window roll up and down smoother and break in the felts easier

Re: trouble letting windows down

the owner replaced both regulators at some point and has also replaced the felt.I dont think it was done at the same time,I dont see anything wrong with the replacement regulators he has,
just cant compare them to originals.I think I am going to replace the swipes and felts then clean everything good and re-lube everything.Any suggestions on what brand and who to buy from? Thanks.
