Stock width for 1955 rear end

As the title says, I'm looking for the "face plate-to-face plate" width of a 1955 (Second design) Chevy pickup rear end. I just purchased one of these trucks (haven't taken delivery - in another state) and I have a Chevy Blazer 4X4 rear end (59.5 inches wide) that I can either sell this weekend to a friend or use under this truck if the width is right. The rear end I have is a Posi/3:52 with disk brakes and low milage - Ideal for this low budgert rebuild I envision for this truck. I searched but could not find info on the stock width. Thanks for any information.

Re: Stock width for 1955 rear end

Thanks guys for the replys. It looks like i'll be saving this rear end for my build. Cal 58 GMC build had some good information on his thread about using these rear ends. The next question is has anyone used the "NASCAR" style rear end locating method on one of these trucks? I've seen several 4 links, others with Bags, and the leaf springs, but I can easily get the swing arm setup out of a later chevy pickup.

As always thanks to those who have the information for sharing it!!!
