My only thought is mount it on the outside of the frame but that depends on if your tires will hit it or not.

Are you talking about a flipkit then putting on a AOL setup? If so Yes i did it on my suburban. you just have to watch out for the shock mounts cause they will get in the way.

Did you buy a kit? I'm interested in this also. I haul some stuff and now may do some towing with my truck. I have seen it done on one tons. Anyone know the best kit? I also thought about just regular air shocks but from what I remember they can be really rough riding.

Re: Air Bag Helpers on axle flip?

Here is a pic of where I mounted my bags. They are toward the front. I believe these bags are for a '05 GM truck. They work good and haven't had any problems. I have to have them aired up in order to keep the back end level. I'm running a flip kit with four leafs (two centers are not arched). I'm running a Belltech notch with a button bump stop. If I don't have air in the bags, the axle sits on the bump stop.
FYI, I'm running 15x8s with 275/60 tires.

Badchevy, Nice truck! So is the bag sitting on the leaf spring with like a saddle clamp and the top bolted to the frame? Do you run an onboard compressor? Would you have to or could you just air them up with a schrader valve? Sorry about all the questions. OP is gonna have plenty of info. Thanks

The bags look like they are quite abit forward on the leaf,no problem?

The bag is sitting on the leaf spring is held in place with a fabbed clamp I did. It's just to keep the bag in place. As for the top, yes, it's just bolted to the frame. I'm running a small portable compressor (similar to the ones sold at parts stores) to air up my air tank for my air horn but also serves to air up my bags via a schrader valve. Pretty easy setup. And I haven't had any problems yet. Yes, they are a little forward in the leafs but there is not too many places to mount them with the flip kit. Might try something different later but they'll work for now. Hope this helps others.

I have roughly a 5 1/2 to 6 inch drop up front (3" drop spindles, lowered springs) and a flip kit with straightened out leafs out back. The notch is a Belltech c-notch with a button type bump stop. I have to keep air in my bags in order to lift it a little. If not, the axle will bottom out.

Re: Air Bag Helpers on axle flip?

Thanks For the info guys. I have Ben working my A** off so have not had much time to get back on. But this is what I have dun to the truck. I made the axle flip kit in my fab shop and installed it, this put me about 3 inches from the frame to top of axle and installed 3 inch drop spindles with stock springs. My problem now is that the front is higher than the back even with the 3 inch drop, so i am thinking the leaf springs are slapt out but think I would like to lower the front to level it rather that new leaf springs in back. So I will be installing drop springs in the front soon and hope that air bag helpers for the back will keep me from further mods to the back and level the truck out.
