Low hump or high hump with 4L60E?
Are you guys using a low hump with a 4l60 e tranny?
I was thinking it is about the same height as a 350 TH Or a 700r? I'm switching cabs and it's a low hump, will it work with my 4L60e? If I change to 4L80 will I needs high hump ? Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Low hump or high hump with 4L60E?
The 4L60E is a small unit similar to the th350/400. The 4L80E is larger
The 4L60E fits with the low hump depending on location off the engine/trans front to rear. I am in the middle of a build with a 5.3/4L60E going into a '71. I used the stock 350 V8 mounts (with the LS swap plates) and moved them to the rear holes in the front section of frame. This located the transmission fairly snug in the tunnel (Low hump) This seams to be what looks best in my opinion. |

Both fit under a low hump as long as you don't have a drop member or the motor set way back(6cyl position+1" set back plates). A 4L60E might fit like that.

Re: Low hump or high hump with 4L60E?
I have my engine and tranny set back pretty far. I don't want to get my cab all finished and painted just to find out it won't fit when install it.

for what its worth, the majority of the 4l80's size was actually width. The ears on the bellhousing are pretty big, but can be ground slightly to make a little more room for exhaust to pass by. The hump never posed a problem for me, I'm in the front position, running mount adapter plates.

Re: Low hump or high hump with 4L60E?
Update on this, I ended up cutting my cab for a high hump tranny cover. My engine sits back so far the transmission hit the cab when we test fit it.

Re: Low hump or high hump with 4L60E?
I've been wondering the same thing regrading fit w/low hump. I've got a 6.0/6L80E combo out of G8, the transmission doesn't look that big to me though....compared to a 4L80E, that is.
