Re: Engine mounts?
We put a '73 454 in my '71 C-10 and had to use the motor mounts and stands from the '73 so the headers we had would fit.

Re: Engine mounts?

Re: Engine mounts?
My '71 had a 350 in it with a SM-465 manual transmission. I wanted to keep the SM-465 when we put the '73 454 in the place of the 350 without having to change the drive shaft.
We dropped the 454 in and mated it to the SM-465 and let the engine settle into the cradle. Then we drilled holes in the frame to bolt the mounts. Every thing worked out good, we were even able to use the fan shroud from the '73, but did have to relieve it a little for the crankshaft and the alternator. The clutch operated fan fit perfect in the shroud and had the correct clearance to the radiator.

Re: Engine mounts?
The motor mounts and stands I used were the BB stock ones out of a '73 C-20.
I have heard others used after market ones.

Re: Engine mounts?
If your are switching from a small block you will need the stands and rubber mounts I had to switch mine back to the small block stands and mounts to get mine ready for my vortec 5.7 if you search the google bar up top for engine stands you will see the difference and what ya will need.

Re: Engine mounts?
I used these for my big block swap. Bolt in, no issues here. A bit pricey but worth it imo. The big block will bolt onto the small block stands but you'll run into issues when it comes to bolting up headers. The big block stands droop next to the frame rail to clear a header tube whereas the small block stands are straight. These tubular mounts solve that issue as well.
