Well, I never had to change a thing. Let the crossmember in it's factory location and I've never had a single issue. But, since we're on the topic... those spacers aren't any smaller or bigger around than the bolt that's originally putting stress against the frame, so it shouldn't be any more or less stressful to the fram than the factory location... Just a thought
