I've been looking at my truck for days now... I have nothing MAJOR left to do, I do have a million little things to work on.. but now I'm getting the bad itch for airbags...

I'm going to start my normal thing.. which is reading like a crazy person and losing sleep thinking about the best way to do it...

I like to poll the forum before starting a big project.. it saves me time and money!!



I do not want to mod my bed...

Anyone have any input...?

I'm thinking a4 link kit... anyone have one they really like??
bag type? number of tanks/comps? line size?

all the other crap I'm forgetting about???

Be the best decision you ever made!

There are many ways to bag the truck, and all depends on how low you want to go, and what features (height sensors, manual or electric valves, etc.) you want. Piecing together a kit using universal parts (4-link, etc.) will be the most cost effective, but a kit made for the truck will be easier to install.

Porterbuilt has very nice products and know they work.... and work well! It kind of comes down to budget. Let me know if I can help you out and go over all your options and what you want as a final product regarding suspension and is function.

Btw, very clean truck! Would look sweet bagged.

KB products makes a "bolt in" rear kit. anyone used one?

It just depends on how low you want it and can you weld?Kp links makes some nice stuff but i rather use http://porterbuiltfabrication.com/ his rear dropmember is bolt in for 73-87 trucks and is built stronger then anything else on the market i seen.On tank size compressor size or how many and line size comes down to how fast you want it to raise and lower and how much you will be playing with it.Bigger air line the faster it goes up and down the smaller size will be a little slower.If you want a simple lift it to drive and slam it to park a 3 gallon air tank and single compressor is fine.If you want to play with it a lot a 5 gallon or 7 gallon with two compressors will be needed.

I want to get as low as I can with out cutting into my bed... I dont want to spend 5K at the same time I so much money in this thing already I don't want to skimp right at the end..

You guys think two compressors and two 5 gal tanks is an over kill? think Ill be able to shove it all under my truck?

I've been looking at the porterbuilt stuff.. looks like it's built for a tank.. very cool..

If you aren't going to mod the bed then I wouldn't spend the money to bag it.

I've seen a few few trucks with a small notch and no bed mods... still seems worth it to me..

I scrape on things now..(mostly pot holes I didn't see going 100mph) I figure I can get an inch or two lower when I want it.. and get an inch or two high when I need it.. = worth it...

plus... I need something to work on... I mean I almost started by bug the other day... lol...

Just dying to work on something... haha.... I am the same way.

You can get low without cutting into the bed. Will you get as low or lay frame in the rear, no, but you can get a low stance. I only did a small notch on my truck and it sits down far and will tuck the 20" wheel. I have a straight bed, and just didn't want to cut it up.

I would recommend a 4-link setup, whether bolt on or universal.

My 2 cents... I think your truck would look awesome bagged, but I understand what dv8 is saying. I would almost just bag the front if you want an extra 1-2" for adjustability. I love the look of a raked truck.

Build a bad ass motor for it and be done lol don't waste your time if you only want to go a little lower and not lay frame.. Btw try looks bad ass the way it is now. Just needs 15x10s with a motor to back it up ! But hey thats me..

take a look at what ridetech has to offer aswell. Ken's (N2TRUX) truck has an awesome setup from them and he has a stock bed floor in his truck. I think most people on here would agree, the stance his truck has is right on. I am a big fan of trucks layin frame but you don't have to go that low to reap the benefits of air ride.

C'mon bro, you know you would bag it too.

You can take it pretty low and not cut your bed or inner fenders. No, it won't lay frame, but it will get you at a much lower cruise height. There are several choices to consider, so do your research and decide what fits your needs.

I went with a full Ridetech 4link system and I can attest to its amazing quality. Porterbuilt makes a mild kit that is awesome, and his new trailing arm system is ready for production.

I know you didn't ask an opinion on this, but I would consider a set of larger wheels if you really want to make a noticeable change. I know the rallies are very popular, but a set of 20" billets would totally rock on that truck.

Are you referring to mine? If so, then your are totally wrong. Ok, technically they aren't stock. I have had them smoothed and painted, but beyond that they are the same way they were when they left the factory.

To add to this, my truck will actually go lower than what you see. If I remove the bumpstops in front, and change to shorter shocks in the rear, I can get it 3/4-1" lower and still not cut anything. It won't roll when aired out, but it will go lower.

Oh cool didn't know it could go that low with stock inner fenders. I plan to go lower on mine and want to make a set of inner fenders but it will be static drop so need the travel room

Truck looks awesome Ken. That is a good example of having air bag suspension that gets a low stance without going full tilt and laying the frame on the ground. There is still a benefit of having air bags if your not laying frame. The adjustability is a huge positive for me.
