cutting old and putting in new rockers TONIGHT!!!
tips? panel first or backing plate? pics? i dont have much of a back to mine right now so its hard to see what it is supposed to look like.

I like to get the back plate in place first ....But , I also get the rockers fittin with self-tappers , install the door and fender for fit , then disassemble and weld . Lots of extra time ...but the fit and lines are good.

I just finished my second truck. No backing plates for me! They just trap mud and cause rust.

You should add some bracing before doing anything. Backing plates are very important structurally. You have to replace the backing plate first, I don't even know how you would replace the backing plate afterwards.
