Full length, mid, shorty headers on AD mustang II
What headers are you guys running on your AD with mustang II. I have a set of full length off of a 84 Monte Carlo, but they hit the frame. My 53 has a 450 Hp sbc and I would like to hear your opinions. What is good, what is not. What brands, what lengths or any input will be greatly appreciated.
thanks Aaron |

Re: Full length, mid, shorty headers on AD mustang II
Good luck - I have been researching this topic as well. I knowthe shorty headers work, but for me, they were too close to the motor mount. Some folks have said that the tri five passenger car headers work. I actually bought some "clipster" type headers from e-bay and am paying a guy to modify (cut the stainless steel and TIG weld) the last two tubes on the driver's side to clear my steering shafts. Total I will have $450 in the headers when done....check sanderson as well. They have some good options.

Parkwood, that looks to be close. Have you tried to layout you're steering shaft with that set of.headers. What headers are those?
Thanks |

Re: Full length, mid, shorty headers on AD mustang II
I had a set on my 55 that were made for a trifive car and they interfered too much with the steering. I switched them with some for a Nova and they fit much better.

Looks like a good fit. What brand or make are your headers? Are they for a trifive?

Re: Full length, mid, shorty headers on AD mustang II
I would opt for a mid / rear dump shorty like from sanderson... then you can build your exhaust up to them instead of very possibly having to make a compromise some where...?

Thanks parkwood! I didn't catch the trifive post earlier, was reading from a phone screen. Looks like tri-five mid length headers it will be.
