thermostat

ok since my e-fans are set to come on at 180*......should I swap out the stock thermostat (195*) to a 160*?......I have one ordered anyway....claiming 5hp gain?.....I seriously doubt it...lol.

Re: thermostat

No, 180*. the LS motors run more efficient at temps from 185*-210. this is what a GM service manager told me and also my friend who is a mechanic also.

I have the 180* in mine and the e-fans keep it at 180* except when pulling and/or towing which it will creep up to 195 in stop and go traffic. Still no where near overheating the motor.

Re: thermostat

out TBSS runs 210*-220* all the time. Drives me nuts. We pay it off in like 3 more payments, so I plan on some upgrades for it later this year or next. Its not leaving my "fleet of 2"... and growing!

Re: thermostat

...maybe I'm just not used to it, but it seems the fan runs all the time, but I guess it's doing what it's supposed to......I know the ls motors like to run hotter than the old sbc....I got a new 180* so I'll try it anyway....

Re: thermostat

I had the 160* and it ran constantly. so I went with the 180* and it likes that much better
