ECE Spindle Guys

Do any of you have any clearance issues? I have 15x6.5 rally's on mine and I have heard the offset my be of an issue.
I'm looking at their 2.5" drop spindles with a regular stock replacement coil and 4" drop springs for the rear, and I want to make sure before I pull the trigger that there wont be any issues.
Thanks!

Re: ECE Spindle Guys

I have a set of ECE spindles, and did not have any issues with clearance on my rallys.

Re: ECE Spindle Guys

The 15x6.5" and 15x8" truck ralley wheels have a 4" BS.
The 15x7" truck ralley wheels have a 3-5/8" BS.

15" wheels with a 4" BS wll require trimming of the lower a-arm in the lower ball joint area,... for trucks running the standard design 2.5" and 3" drop spindles.
(removing a little of the "gutter" on each side of the balljoint)
This takes about 5 minutes per side with a electric grinder equipped with a cut off wheel.

Re: ECE Spindle Guys

That sux. I am running 15x6.5 rallys on 235/75/15 all the way around. I'm looking at the 2.5" spindle.
I dont want to have to shave anything off if I buy the spindles. Can you explain where and what would have to be cut off? I guess the alternative is to get the drop spring and the shock relocators?

jackyl9999 what size are you running with no issues?

This arm has already been trimmed.
The blue tape marks the areas that were previouly trimmed.

I've been doing this mod for over 25 years.
I do it on all trucks I lower with drop spindles.
(you never know when you might have to bolt on a different set of wheels)

Re: ECE Spindle Guys

Ok, so I should just concentrate on the blue tape then?
Is it the entire length of the tape? How much approx do I need to shave off? Or is it more trial and error?
Any other areas to be trimmed?

Just bolt the wheel on to the truck and swing the steering side to side. You'll see where the wheel lip hits the control arm. It's completely self explanatory when you see it in person. Like Keith said, 5 minutes and you're done. Like him, I've been doing it since the early 90s on many trucks. Heck, I just did my own truck last week. Don't sweat it. It's a non issue.

X2. On my truck that I had with 6.5s it would hit the wheel weights. This reminds me I have to do it on my project truck. Or at least check it. Its not a big deal.

Re: ECE Spindle Guys

My truck has a 84 model crossmember put in by the PO will this trimming still be the same on the newer style lower arms?

TX Firefighter is right - I too am running the stock 15x6.5 steelies up front, one thing I did was to have my tire guy run the sticky weights on the inside of the rim rather than on the lip of the rim and I did not have to trim a thing BUT every application/truck is a little different and trimming the gutter on the A-arm is no biggie.
