I've been hearing that there have been problems with the slams, is it true? I want to go with a smaller dia bag than my 2600's and was thinking about some SS7's

Re: Slam bags ?
What kind of problems ?
We have been using Slam bags for years now with no problems. There has been a problem on getting the bags in a decent time frame. We have bought several dozen and have a good stock of slam bags here. We have SS-6 and SS-7 in stock Justin Last edited by Scottshotrods; 05-21-2012 at 10:17 AM. Reason: add |

Re: Slam bags ?
Nobody really said what the problems were, they just said there were problems. I'm running 2600's at 70 psi at ride hight. On the rear of a 56. They expand to around 8 1/8 at this psi and come in contact with my tire. I'm looking to replace them with a smaller dia. bag. Do the slam bags expand in the dia? I was thinking about the ss7. Whats your input please. Thankyou.

Re: Slam bags ?
The Slam Specialties airbags DO NOT get any wider when inflated, in actuality they've been known to get slightly narrower under pressure. Due to the material used on the bags, and the way they're molded to the top and bottom plates, the bags themselves provide more lift when replacing a Firestone or related bag.
The Slam bags have tons of built in features that don't always get talked about, like their internal bump stops, firmer material, and higher air pressure ratings to name a few. In your case, you might not need the higher pressure rating but you should take advantage of the narrower airbag. Here's a link to their web page that shows information about their bags when compared to other airbags. http://www.slamspecialties.com/compare.html If you're interested in getting a set, you can contact a dealer like ourselves or also consider companies like AVS (http://www.avsontheweb.com ) who are active dealers on here as well. Hope some of the information helped and good luck with the truck. It already looks killer. .

Re: Slam bags ?
Slams are the only bag I'll use.

Re: Slam bags ?
The main difference between the RE series and the SS series bags are the end plates, which are composite vs. aluminum. The SS bag has a thicker sidewall than the RE bag, and has a slightly longer stroke. The compressed measurement and extended heights are slightly better (shorter compressed height, longer extended height) than the RE bag. The composite end plate makes the bag lighter in weight. It can also handle more pressure than an RE bag, but they require less pressure to lift the same load. A nice feature, because the higher the pressure, the harder the ride.
The RE bag is a great piece, but the SS bag has a few upgrades that make them worth considering.

Re: Slam bags ?
SS7's are the way to go for a double convuluted bag! they are awesome and take very little pressure to react...i remember the old bags where you would almost worry they were going to pop like a baloon....the advancements to these ss bags are freekin awesom! I have a set of dominators and the ss bags make them seem cheap. Go SS Slam Specialties They ARE the Best.

Re: Slam bags ?
I've used Slam re7's and re8's both with great results. At the time, they were the only bag with an internal bumpstop, great if you like to ride aired out or drag.
People would run something like a Firestone sleeve bag without a bumpstop, and rip/chafe through it when riding aired out.
