I have an older Harwood fiberglass hood and I like it very much. It weighs about 1/3 of the the original hood.

NO, it does not. It will have the usual bracing under it to give the hood strength, just like any metal GM hood. At least the ones that I have seen from Goodmark did.

Re: who makes a functional cowl hood

I'm in the process of building a fully functional RAM AIR Hood for my Burb.

Re: who makes a functional cowl hood

I've never seen any that are functional.
I added my own sheet metal to the underside of the steel aftermarket cowl induction hood that I bought for my '76 Camaro. It fits fairly tight over the top of a triangular, 1000cfm Edelbrock air cleaner (available from Summit Racing) and provides a functional cowl induction. That may be a possibility for you.
I hope to dual RAM air to FRANKENTRUCK in the future. I don't think it needs it though,...
Todd.

none of them are, I thought you just wanted one that was vented/open to pass air thru

You are going to have to do what BLE BURB is doing and build one, if you want it to seal to the top of an air cleaner. My open cowl hood does provide a negative pressure at the opening, I have proof of that. The air is going into the engine bay and since I run a K&N 14" X 4" tall air cleaner that has the "Extreme" top plate that has the filter media on it, I am getting a good air charge to my carb. My hood does not seal to the air cleaner, but it does work as indicated by the dirt collection on my oil media in the filter.
