Overload Spring on a 77 C10
Here is my first post, and I hope it’s not a stupid questions. Is this the overload spring I hear so much about? Is it just a matter of loosing up the 4 nuts on the 2 U clamps and sliding out the spring? Or is there more to it? I don’t really haul much, and would like to loose another ¾ inch in height.
Thanks!!!!! |

How do you edit a post if you have a bunch of spell check errors?

Yes that is the overload spring. It is not as easy as removing the U-bolts and pulling it out. There is a center pin in every leaf pack that needs removed before the leaf's can be seperated. I usually remove the pack from the truck then grind the head off with my grinder, remove or add leaf's then install a new center pin.

Hmmmmm OK. If I need to do that, I may just relocate the front spring mount and gain 2 inch’s or so. Thanks for the input!!!

Re: Overload Spring on a 77 C10
If you have air tools its not a big job to loose the overload. You dont need to remove the whole spring pack. If you use a pair of C clamps to hold tension on the pack, then remove the center pin, its not that big of a job.
