engine noise
Okay, I have a noise my engine is making. I don’t know why it started to make it. I’ve been working on my trucks body and electrical. Went to see if I fix all my electrical problem and my engine started to make a knocking noise. When I drove it in, it was fine and now it not. I pulled my pan off to look at the rods and mains and nothing is loss, can’t find what made the noise. I don’t want to pull my head to see if anything fell in, but if I have to I will. Does and body have an idea what it is. HELP

Re: engine noise
Try posting a vid on youtube and putting the link here. Honestly, people really need to hear it. Best of luck with your truck though.

Re: engine noise
Get a stethescope and run it down. I'd hate to see ya yank the heads and it be the flexplate or something. Make SURE the noise is the engine.

Re: engine noise
Today im going to check and see if i have a lift that went bad after sitting for two years. I hope it is a lifter, they are cheap and easy to fix. We will find out if it is.

Re: engine noise
I haven’t made any progress yet! I hate it when I can’t fix my own stuff, but when it comes to others people stuff I have no problem, I guess I over think it when it my stuff.

Re: engine noise
old school noise location device, get a long screwdriver and put the tip on the valve covers, intake etc, while holding your thumb in your ear, or it is a craftsman srewdriver with the rounded end put your ear to it

Re: engine noise
well i got it fixed. All it did was put a couple little ding in the piston nothing to bad just sanded smooth, so there wont be any hot stops. clean the heads and intake, painted the heads now putting it back together.
