Re: How much is this worth?

Not the same truck, color, or trim level but it gives you an idea of where these trucks are going.

Re: How much is this worth?

I've been offered big $$ for my 78 Big 10 SWB, but it is fully optioned with a 454. I'd faint if someone even remotely offered to buy it in the neighborhood of 8 grand.

Re: How much is this worth?

I see a 6k truck to the RIGHT person. I like it. BUT I woukd rather take a solid $500 truck and build it to my likings then shell out 6k for a bone stock one.

Re: How much is this worth?

family isn't generally a good place to buy or sell things. there's just too much room for hard feelings most times.

and for 5 grand, you can find a real nice truck around our part of the country. i'm agreeing with n2trux. it would only bring those numbers IF you could find that ONE person who couldn't live without it.

Re: How much is this worth?

I've been checking on prices for these trucks and blows my mind how the value has risen in the last 5 years, clean ones get the price! 5 to 9k ! hell last time I was looking at my trucks value years ago 05? it was around 3/4k now maybe 7k,sure you can find them $1800 on Craigslist all day long but lots of restoration! so take care of your truck and it will take care of you! haha!
I originally purchased my truck in 1990 for $3800 with a cab over camper . This was at Lake Tahoe 1993,Ive owned it 20 years and its never let me down, except that time it died on the railroad tracks! arhhhh!

Re: How much is this worth?

Just using my truck as a reference.

1977 GMC High Sierra, Heavy Half truck. Bought it with 72K original miles, completely rust free, the only issue is a small dent under the rear window and the seat was ripped. Probably not quite as fancy as the truck you are talking about, it didn't have A/C and it had a rubber floor mat (which is a plus to me).

I paid $1,200 for her. I will probably repaint her in the near future. I did a little bit of front end work, put a new dual exhaust setup in her and she has been just fine.

16K is insane for a longbed truck of that age. I have no idea who told them that their truck is worth 16 thousand dollars. For that price you can get a nicely done 72 Cheyenne Super with a 402. If your family isn't willing to be reasonable don't be pressured into buying that truck.

"Stuck with it forever" she says it like it's a bad thing lol
someone might spend 16,000 redoing a family truck
living up here (rust) thats real easy

but buying one for that (16,000)would have to be a real special optioned truck
and rebuilt
