the parts guys don't know any better and are giving you a chevy clutch disc. you will probably have to get yours rebuilt. it has to do with the hub emerging on the flywheel side. if you do a search on their forum there will also be a lot of info on it. ron |

Re: 65 GMC 305 V6 and 4speed clutch problems
I had my clutch resurfaced in New Orleans, which seem to be the better option. You'll probally need to find an older shop that has the experance.

Re: 65 GMC 305 V6 and 4speed clutch problems
Someone from the Jolly site bought from HR clutches and here's what he emailed me;
"The clutch itself worked fine, however the release bearing they sent me was wrong - I'll be sending it back. My old on was fine. It's a 10.5" disc with an 11" pressure plate, works fine." http://www.hrclutch.com/ I believe he paid $225 at the time.

Re: 65 GMC 305 V6 and 4speed clutch problems
im doing the same thing on my 63 305 v6. i had to go to a clutch and brake place to find what i needed. im using a t5 so my disc spline had to be 26, but the hub on the camaro was rubbing with the flywheel. the guy had to find a an early 90's pontiac clutch which was 11", had 26 spline, and a small enough hub so as to not rub with the flywheel. hope that helps

Re: 65 GMC 305 V6 and 4speed clutch problems
Here is an excellent place to start, http://www.centricparts.com/. I check there catalog for the parts and part numbers, then order them from NAPA Auto. Centric supplies most of the more common auto parts suppliers, so try others if NAPA won't help you.
Everything I've ever gotten from Centric for all my trucks has been of the highest quality and most importantly they fit correctly and perform. Best regards, T Herder |
