SM420 & a VSS. Been done?

Ok, so for financial reasons I was / am planning to keep the SM420 transmission that is in the truck and bolt it to my 4.8L LS engine.
I had found out which clutch, flywheel & pilot bearing to use and was happily riding my bicycle, almost home and about to pull out my credit card to buy parts, when I thought "Oh, snap. I think I'm going to need a VSS signal and I don't know where to get one"
I called Jagsthatrun.com and they don't know.
I looked at Novak & Advance Adapters & they don't offer VSS kits for transmissions, just transfer cases. I have a 2wd.
So where do I go from here? Suck it up, buy a $600 4L60E transmission, $50 in plumbing & a new (junkyard) column to boot?
Or what else can I do here? Running without VSS, to me, isn't an option.

Dakota digital SEN-01-4160 its a pass through Vss so you can still hook your speedo cable up.

Re: SM420 & a VSS. Been done?

Dakota Digital referred me to JTR, or Jags That Run.
JTR has some good options for mechanical speedometers & VSS installs on 4l60Es as well as some pre-LS SBC options. For an LS engine, it looks like I'm down to a programming delete (which I know nothing about), a 40-tooth reluctor wheel and sensor mounted to my pinion flange on the rear end or drive shaft, and / or a different choice of transmission.
Any other ideas?
