Re: what width of rear axle to use?

Welcome. There is a lot of discussion on that on here.

If you have the truck where you can jack it up and pull the back wheels off and measure from mounting surface on the drum to mounting surface on the other drum to get a solid measurement of what the original axle is and then decide if that width will work with the wheel and tire combination you have planned.

That may not be a lot of help but there several variables in rear end width selection including the size of the wheels and tires and the back spacing of the wheels.
