It's ALIVE!
Well finally got the ole heap started yesterday and took it for a short spin around the block.
Still have a long way to go to make it driveable but at least now I know it runs. Swapped out the old straight 6 for a 283 with a powerglide, don't ask me why, it's a long story. Added an electric fan to cool it down. Changed out the front end for a 76 GM with disc brakes and added power steering. Threw in a pair of 05 Tahoe buckets and a Lokar floor shift. Swapped the front grille out for a 61 and will be doing the hood in a couple of weeks. Still needs some body work, some paint, a set of wheels and tires, need to lower it some. Might put a heater in it, upholstery and sound deadening and carpet. Will be changing out the back window for a big back glass. And modify the tailgate to get rid of the chains. Probably way more than I can think of to do, but thats what comes to mind right now. Could not have gotten this far without the help from you all. It is much appreciated and I guarantee I am not finished asking dumb questions.

Re: It's ALIVE!
I bet it drive out a lot differently with the V8 compared to the 250 ci 6 that was in it, right?

I don't have an exhaust system on it yet and it was LOUD. Kind of reminded me of my high school days Another 10 Thousand bucks and it might be close to finished .

Nice work. It's always a great feeling when the new engine fires up for the first time and your able to roll it down the road. My first couple trips were very loud too with straight headers.

Re: It's ALIVE!
Did you take the power steering set up off the 76? It's as easy as bolting it all up?

Re: It's ALIVE!
Had to use Captain Fabs brackets but it wasn't all that difficult to make it fit. A little cutting and grinding and welding.
