wow, those wheels and tires really make the truck. Are those American Eagle or MT wheels?

Look a few posts back - he said they're Eagle 589s. And they do look great!

I had to cut the front of my fenders for the 35's to clear with 2.5 inches of lift. Not enough lift to off road but sufficient to squirrel around on the street. To off road you need 4" minimum and 6" if you are going to wheel hard.
4:10's and 35's are a perfect combination and I have had many. The best mileage my 79 got was with 4:10's and 37 inch tires. Even better than the 307's and 28 inch tires it came with. Put the engine right in its torque zone. Big tires can be a big pain in the butt. Yes they can rob gas mileage, yes they take longer to stop, yes by increasing the center of gravity a vehicle and tip over easier if not properly driven. The problem is nothing looks better than lift with bigger tires. When my truck was shod with 33's and a stock suspension it looked good. With 35's and 2.5 inch lift if looks great and it gest much more noticed than before. Its amazing what a few inches of lift and bigger tires do for the looks of a truck. (Mine is the blue and white one in the Washington Board members meet thread.) My advice to Nu2-72 is go with the 35's, in the end you will be glad you did. |

chevy71super, too late. I went 33's and do not want to cut metal. I get really touchy about cutting rustfree metal when it is so hard to find in the first place. Maybe if I was in SoCal or there abouts.
Nice truck too.

nu2-72, Your truck looks great! Sorry, today was the first time I could post, since I just moved, and it took till today to get internet back.
I run 33" tires on 16.5" rims with a 4" suspension lift. I know I could "FIT" 35" mudders in the holes, but I need the extra space for flex when the truck comes back to the ground from being airborn. Never had it on it's roof either |

Thanks, I have a long way to go.
I love the GMC front end. You have a great looking truck. Is any of this one the stuff from Jockdean? (pardon my French)

Yeah, the short step in my avatar is from Jock, and I have some aluminum rims and tires that I haven't mounted yet.
Trust me, pictures make the truck look much better than in person. Someday I'll get rid of that Chevy front bumper |
