Re: Made my first long haul in the 59 chevy
Recorded About 10 MPG. Was getting About 16MPG before without the trailer. Running 3.38:1 gears. Lots of time at the pump. But in 100+ degree Weather you need time to cool.

Re: Made my first long haul in the 59 chevy
Welcome to Oklahoma. I remember making that very long, boring trip a few times in my 57. Sure wish I had a/c in the truck.

Cool, people probably thought you were crazy for driving that "old truck" love it I made a trip on some of that same highway coming home from our route 66 trip last year, from Albuquerque to Tennessee in 23 hours just stopping for gas. That was a adventure all should do.

Re: Made my first long haul in the 59 chevy
Yes A/C would have been GREAT. And a lot of folks were not sure if it would make it, but at the same time they were happy to see it on the road. I am happy to see it on the road. Hope all the folks that saw it will take that as a sign to get a old car and drive it.
