Radiator advice
Good morning!
On my build thread, I am asking for advice on clearance for a radiator. In the photo here is my mock engine with the water pump, and a fan/fan clutch. I have a couple responses on my build thread, now I'm wanting to ask everyone here, or all that look at this thread, what Radiator can I install in my truck that won't break the bank? Or Show me your radiator setup please. Coupeguy2001 pointed out that my measurements would be wrong cause I measured from the crossbars, so taken that into consideration, subtract that amount ![]() I'll be back~ dne' ![]() Posted via Mobile Device Posted via Mobile Device Last edited by Denee007; 08-07-2012 at 11:23 AM. Re: Radiator advice
Here's mine. It's a double cross the fan type with the in and out on the same side for LSx swaps. And here is where you need to measure from but from the look of it a stock desert cooler radiator will work.

Re: Radiator advice
A little different measurement if using a short water pump versus a long water pump so take that into consideration when measuring

Re: Radiator advice
I took my mock engine out too soon. Anyway, that bar is 1.5", so subtract that from my system and I should have adequate room. A stock desert cooler? Have look that up. I probably shouldn't use that old fan clutch anyway, it's very heavy.
Thank y'all for the posts and pics!!!!! And advice!!! ![]() Posted via Mobile Device Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Radiator advice
It may be a little close but I don't think you will have much of a problem putting any radiator you want in there. You might have to pull the radiator to take the fan off though.

Re: Radiator advice
Desert cooler was used for my gto radiator so I thought they would have 1 for the truck.

Re: Radiator advice
I will be using a PRC radiator have one in my 47 Chev Delivery and had one in my 34 . They all worked good. Quick question for FRED 53 do you have the part numbers for your upper and lower radiator hoses ? Thanks, Bruce

Re: Radiator advice
truk has a stock looking desert cooler from us radiator, 4 core w/trans cooler.
bought from brothers, dropped shipped from us radiator, bolted right in. my motor has the long water pump, aluminum shroud and spal electric fan. still lots of room from the pulley to the fan. with a belt drive fan you will need a fan shroud to use the radiator effectively. ![]()
