Re: Need paint scheme suggestions
You didn't say which orange so I'm going to guess that 524 Hugger/Red Orange is the shade of choice. So that gives us five possible stock color schemes.
524 solid orange 458 Deluxe Two-Tone with a white roof and between the belt and lower bodyside moldings. The "classic" Cheyenne paint scheme. 553 Conventional Two-Tone white roof only. 596 Special Two-Tone white roof and below the lower bodyside moldings (a Suburban scheme). Then there is 565 Custom Two-Tone which would be a 524 orange truck with a black roof... factory. As always custom arrangements and colors were available from the factory. Also in addition to the Hugger/Red Orange there was an International Orange (like Caltrans) and not to put too fine a point on it, a Yellow Orange

Not to take away from the thread : I thought the black roof was not factory? I guess I learn something new every post!

Re: Need paint scheme suggestions
the first one makes me drool - tangier orange. #2 is the overhaulin' paint job on the orange 72 from the tv show (he was at Brother's this year). The rest are quite ncie as well. I used to be a "white/orange/white/orange" #1 fan, but now I find I'm more of a simply "white/orange" fan with the solid body color. However, on 69-70, also love it when the white is added at the bottom as well.
(as you can tell, I think the stock combo of white and orange is hard to beat. Custom is ok if the truck is REALLY custom (just me) but a custom paint job on an otherwise normal stock truck almost seems out of place. You have a million options on the direciton you'll go with your 71, can't wait to see the result! |
