I am planning a 2 man lift with an engine hoist for my cab, and I was just wondering where the best place for the chains are without doing any damage.

On mine I lifted the whole truck and unbolted and unhooked everything. Then set some 4x4 planks under the cab ratchet tied to the cieling of the garage andlowered the chassis and rolled it out

If you have the seat out of it and one door off, you can use the seat belt bolt holes. That's how I did mine when I was doing a frame-off resto.

instead of using chains a canvass tie down strap around the doors / roof works... i did mine with four guys and manual labor

Ditto to the strap around the roof. It's advised that you remove the drip rails first though. I lifted my donor cab with pretty much everything in it with no problems

On a regular cab I removed several by leaving on the doors and keeping them closed. I then used a 4x6 treated post from Lowes. On each end I drilled for eyelets to connect a chain so when it comes up the drip rail was not damaged. As it raises up against the door I added padding just to ensure the doors did not get damaged.

I also used a hoist that will spin so in case I need to turn the cab to load on a trailer.

I did this also. I used the seat belt holes in the back, and drilled two holes in the front (each side of the trans tunnel). I made an "X" with chain and used a cherry picker to lift the cab by myself. I also kept both doors on. You have to hook up to the chain about dash pad level, or it's going to flip over...... I found out the hard way, caught it before any damage.
