Re: Decode this SPID?

Code 17L = silver metallic.

It also is a ZY5 two tone. I believe the "L" indicates the secondary or inset color. There should also be a code for a "U", which would be the primary (overall) color but I'm not seeing it here. Do you see a color code with a "U" on the SPID when you look at it in person?

If you go to this link and search under '84 Chevy (or GMC) it will show a color chip.

http://www.tcpglobal.com/autocolorlibrary/

Also - download this info packet from the GM Heritage Center archive and it will tell you about all of the RPO codes (and other available equipment) for your truck.

http://www.gmheritagecenter.com/gm-h...olet-Truck.pdf

Available color combinations for RPO ZY5 are shown at the bottom of page 63.

Re: Decode this SPID?

There is not a color with a U but if you look closely you can see it says ".29 MI" after the 17 silver metalic which i think means (29 Midnight Blue) and if it is the ZY5 what color is the primary and which is the secondary? Thank you for your help!!!!

Re: Decode this SPID?

The 29 MI is basically saying "29 Midnight Blue", but is shortened. Like the next line shows Blue Custom Clo, that means it had Blue Custom Cloth interior (option 23D).

Your truck was Dark Blue with silver 2 tone and a blue interior.

Re: Decode this SPID?

I looked on other forum members SPID and it says 29 Midnight Blue than 17 Silver Metallic so it would be All Midnight Blue with Silver Metallic inserts but mine says 17 Silver Metallic first than 29 Midnight Blue so should it be all Silver Metallic with Midnight Blue inserts for the ZY5 package? Thank you guys so much for your help!!!

Re: Decode this SPID?

Since the silver is denoted as the "L" (some say it is for secondary, some say it stands for "lower" on the 2 tone), it is the other/minor color and the blue is primary.

Re: Decode this SPID?

Ok well now I am confused again. When I removed the seat and the dash the cab color on the inside is all silver and the paint at the bottom of the dash is painted silver (the ashtray and glove box) so would silver be the Primary and Blue be the secondary? Thank You so much for your help...
