Re: longbed stepside in the 73-87 year?
It's more than likely a C30, since it's a tow truck. It looks to me like the rear of the bed has been cut down to accomodate the wrecker equipment. Maybe it's an illusion.
There used to be a handful of these running around here. There was a guy I went to high school with that had an '86 C20 LWB stepside. I remember it had a 454, and I think was a Custom Deluxe. He sold it to someone that had another LWB stepside, a 70's C10 that was a former Overnite Express fleet truck.

Re: longbed stepside in the 73-87 year?
I will try and get a pic up for you all, I just picked up an 83, that came from IN, no rust it had dust under the carpet on the pans, even has paint on the frame, it was a county truck, and it had a water tank in the back, and pulled an air compressor. 454/th400 W/57,000 miles.

Re: longbed stepside in the 73-87 year?
The full length 8' bed looks odd. Shortening the tail like that wrecker seems to make the proportions look right. The large gap between the cab and fender with the real short tail looks right somehow.

I used to see a 1983+ white C30 around town, but it's been several years.

Re: longbed stepside in the 73-87 year?
Hey guys, I'll knock the dust off this one. my father bought a 82 3/4 ton long step side city truck around 1999 from the town of Sheffield Alabama. He is a house painter and using it to haul 32' and up extension ladders and what not. Well dad retired last year and mother has been on him to sell the trucks and van that he has.Dad called tonite and told me to come and get it.I'll get pics in the next day or two when I go to help and clean it out.It does need a trans in it. He said he hasn't started it about a month but it was fine when he parked it.
It was my truck for a while when I was working for him several years ago. No a/c with radio delete.custom vise grip window handles. She's kinda rough now but it will run and drive with a little tlc. New trans will be built by weekend. I'm from the 67-72 side of the board.Plus I might wind up with this if mama has her say with dad. She knows I will keep the car. |

I just got hold of a 79 long bed stepside w/ 100,000 miles only. No options on it, 350/4spd, no door buzzers, no tilt, defrost only, no cigerette lighter, no radio, vinyle carpet. Has heavyduty suspension option checked off on build sheet 16.5 wheels. cab and chassis 133 wheel base frame 14 bolt locker rear. Currently converting to 1 ton with 19.5 p30 rims.
