rear axle
what gears are standard for my rear axle and is it worth rebuilding or scrapping? There is nothing wrong with it but I have a newer rear to put under my truck.

Re: rear axle
According to specs, trucks came with 3.90 or optional 4.11 gears. These axles do have some positive features but if you're looking for a more highway oriented gear it might be easier to swap to a different axle.

Re: rear axle
I redid mine with 3:90 gears but I have a Borg Warner overdrive.

Re: rear axle
I also kept the 3.90 gears but I'm running a 16" truck wheel and plan to install an overdrive trans.
