6 speed swap question
looking to put a 5 or 6 speed in my 72 short bed. just now starting to look for stuff. was gonna see if anyone on here had done this swap. wondering if i can still use the factory bench seat . didnt know if the trans shifter would cause a problem. anyways any tips would be great.

Re: 6 speed swap question
As far as a t56 six speed i don't think so. Tremec makes a six speed that you can change the shifter location it might work. A T5 5 speed out of an s10 will work and some people on here have done it. I have a T5 but its out of a mustang and i have bucket seats. The bench seat would be all over my shifter. do a search on here for t5 there is lots of info.

Re: 6 speed swap question
That's what I'm talking about T56 6 speed,That's what I'm going to be running, I've got almost everything ready to go but want to buy a new clutch & plate to put in when I start no need in putting the old stuff in when everything else is new..

Re: 6 speed swap question
Based on the FUN I have had with the T56 in my '99 Camaro SS I think trucks are going to be too much for it without the late CTS or HHR mods.
If you are still in the build/acquire stage a TH400 and a Gear Vendors OD is an awsome setup.

Re: 6 speed swap question
I have a Richmond 6 spd in my longhorn....it bolted in nice, after pulling the 400 hydro. This trans will be a problem with a bench seat,as will the T-56. I would reccomend a TKO 500 or 600 Tremec....you should have 3 options on the shifter position crazyL
