Seat belts?
Anyone tell me if there are any later model belts that will work in my 67?
I'm thinking early 80's center front and rear lap belts out of maybe an Impala, Caddillac etc (with the GM button latches)?. I have the originals but would like to have the plastic support cover on the sides so they don't do the door hang thing, also want three belts. Want to salvage yard something. Thanks for any suggestions before I go scavaging. |

If you'd like to go with shoulder belts, a few people on this site have used belts out of S-10's. Bill72BB is one member that comes to mind. I believe Palf70Step might also have them. I'll bring this to the top, maybe one of them will see the post, and can lead you in the right direction.
Good luck.

Well, just got back and could'nt find much in the trucks I saw. Pretty much stripped or wrong color. Found these in the back seat of a Caddy, 80'ish model.

I know they are a bit short but hey they were only 15 bucks for the set. I'll take the the buckle sides to a local upolstery shop and have longer belts put on them. I really like the retractables for the door side.

You may have an issue with the local law boys as back in the "drag racing" days, we had to have our belts checked and certified quite often and it IS checked. I tried to get a upholstry guy to make me up a new set and he refused as to the liability. If it breaks, its his butt on the line. Kinda like the Ford-Firestone tire fiasco.. Good luck.. I would suggest the S-10 route. Then you at least have a set of stock Factory belts..
