Mounting Points - Factory Mirrors & Badges

My '72 Blazer is at the painter and I am going to have him mount factory mirrors (the small ones) and the "CST" badges on the door. I want to be certain that he puts them in the door in the correct factory positions.

Can any of you tell me exactly where the mounting points are on the doors?

I looks like the edge of the mirror is just past the wind wing and that the "CST" is centered.

Help!

I am interest to know this also. I need to put my CST emblem on my doors. I have old doors that have the emblems on them, but I just am not to sure everything was original when I bought it. I can measure tomorrow and maybe someone can verify it.

That factory assembly manual is great. But it leaves out some important measurements.
A measurement from the front of the door edge to the first hole would be VERY helpfull. You could then referance all the other measurements from there.

I do know that the passenger side mirror sets slightly more rearward than the drivers side. Realized this when placing mine and looking at some completely original trucks.

If anyone can get the measurements from the door edge, that's be great. It'll be very helpful.

Talking Measurement

Well...mine measures 13 1/4 from the aft door edge.....but that is to the edge of the emblem...not the holes.....passenger side measures the same....Hope that helps....

Thanks Patch!

Any idea about the (small) factory mirrors? Is it true . . . are the driver and passenger mirrors mounted at different points on the door?

It is true.
The drivers mirror is about 6" from the front door edge while the passenger mirror is about 8" from the door edge..
There was a post awhile back with exact measurements,I'll see if I can find it.

I found it.It's the very last reply in the link.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...hlight=mirrors

It says:
"The drivers side is 6 7/16" from the front of the door to the center of the front hole. Then 3 1/2" from the top of the door to the center of the front hole. The top of the top rear hole is 2 7/8" from the top of the door. The passenger side mirror is 8 1/4" from the center of the front hole to the front of the door. The top of the door to the center of both front and rear holes are the same as the drivers side."

I'll be installing my passenger side mirror this week.:p
