Best header for a tight budget

Ok the title says it all basicly, what is the best header for under 300 bucks for a 1967 c10 with a 350. Can be long short or block huggers. Id like to see pics and maybe advice like get acoating or just get them painted. I believe stainless is the best but also the most expensive so tell me your experiences with the cheaper brand headers

Hedman make a good inexpensive hedder. Hooker sells scratch and dents on ebay cheap.

Motor only:
6.44 1/8 @ 104.13
10.39 1/4 @ 125.83

Nitrous Times:
5.785 1/8 @ 118.65 with a 1.336 60ft
9.168 1/4 @ 142.58 with a 250 shot dead out of the hole!

just looked on summits website. ive bought several sets of summits truck headers. they are 109 bucks. they work well.only downside is for a performance application the tubes are only 1.5 inches. headman makes a set too for 159 bucks from summit. i suggest some "good" flange gaskets and dont overtighten bolts. as you will bend the flange which can cause exhaust leaks.this condition can happen with any header.

Well if the cheap header keeps leaking and you get really good at swapping the gaskets ( head or collector) is it really cheap.



I bought hooker super comps.. maybe 300 bucks or so.. Been a while they may be more now. 300 or so is cheap compared to a set of KOOKS long tube SS..

I live in az not much rusts out here.. if you live in an area where that is an issue I would look into something that will last. Good luck

I've been running the Summit Brand since '02. I've had no problems with leaks, and I'm very happy with the motor's performance with these. By that, I can say, I have more power than available traction with the current combo.

I think the Flowtech ?? headers I bought for my 383 were under $200 and fit w/o mods.

Thank you guys Its nice to have you guys share your expereinces with the not so expensive headers. Now i know this might change the thread a bit but what do you guys preffer, ceramic coating or use high temp paint. name the pros and cons of both if you can

besides fitment....I generally look for features making a header better for street vehicle use...like thick flanges and thicker gauge tubing..say 3/8" vs 1/4" flanges and 14ga vs 18ga tubes. Cheaper headers are generally thin.

IMO ceramic coating trumps high temp paint any day. Ceramic coating helps control the heat and keep it in the header. The question is how good is the coating? my Dynatech headers have not peeled or flaked, but have discolored a bit. that's with the header manufacturers own "coating" tho, and most header companies offer there own.

As far as one of the originals.... "jet-hot" is a high quality ceramic coatings option that offers a lifetime guarantee.
