Re: ls1 swap computer location
I mounted mine behind the glove box on my 72 (with AC even) much less room in there compared to a square body.
I prefer in the cabin somewhere though. Lots of options with a little imagination. |

Sounds as though you are trying to use an OEM harness from a different vehicle? Your computer mount choices may be limited. |

Re: ls1 swap computer location
I got mine done at fuel injection specialties. The enigine was out of a 99 camaro and on them they are mounted on the right side close to the firewall under the hood. I dont want a rats nest of wires under the hood trying to hide as much of the harness as possible for a clean look.

Re: ls1 swap computer location
after lookin at it i gotta take the platic wrap off it and get the computer connections serperated from the loom of wires and seperate them from other wires that are taped together they are plenty long enough to go under the dash they just need seperated from other wire going to differnt connections/connectors. Shouldnt be a problem just a whole lot of tape to undo lol !!

Did Fuel Injection Specialties make a new harness as per 4th gen specs and not take into consideration the retro swap you are doing? When I've done these Howell harness', they wanted to know specifically what vehicle I was sticking them in, and where I wanted the computer, and even where I wanted to drill the hole in the firewall to pass the harness through. I suppose they've done so many of these swaps in various vehicles they know what length to make the wires and/or distance from computer to sensors depending on location I provide them for computer mounting.... I did a couple of jeeps and most recently my 72 blazer, 2 completely different animals but the harness came out perfect every time. Sounds like you'll get it squared away though with a little fiddling. |

Re: ls1 swap computer location
Ontop of the heater box is an option depending on how you run your wires.

Re: ls1 swap computer location
yea fuel injection specialties asked me what it was going in but said nothing about the wire length. They gave me a checklist to fill out of what i was running and not running on the truck! As for asking me about 4th gen they did not they put what they call a "custom tune" in it took the vats out did away with the stock rev limiter and all that jazz. Sorry if i sound dumb on all this its kinda unventured waters !!

Re: ls1 swap computer location
I'm not sure how big the ls computer is.. But I put my tpi computer above the glove box where my 84's computer was mounted. There was plenty of room under there for all the relays and fuses that came with the harness I bought from FIC.
