will a chevy gauge cluster fit into a gmc??

I am going to look at a pretty much rust free 64 GMC 2 ton for the cab i really am wanting a Chevy but its all i can find will the chevy gauge cluster fit into a gmc? I dont like the humped up dash of the gmc but on the 64 gmc its only humped on the drivers side so i thought maybe the cluster would fit I have only seen pictures of the truck so i havent seen it in person yet but i do know the hoist is good and the old V-6 is not stuck but wont start he said

No the Chevy and GMC gauge clusters are different. You could change the entire dash if you wanted to.

How much work would this be?? is it welded in I assume? I suggested that to my cousin but he said maybe it could be swiched out it looks like the spot there is the same shape as the chevy from the pictures

It is not a small job. The most time consuming part of it is drilling out all of the spot welds along the seam where the windshield sits. There are bolts at each end also.

Re: will a chevy gauge cluster fit into a gmc??

other than the dash there is pretty much no difference from a chevy to gmc cab...

if you go with the 2 ton cab, you have a little work any way, you have to drill the spots for the floor hump to change it over to a c/10, you also have to change out the lower inner fender well mounts with those from a c/10, and remove the cross brace (usually bolted in ) that runs across the front over the bellhousing.

so that said, not too much more work to change out the dash... like they said bolts on each side, and then the spot welds under the windshield lip....all in all much less work than rust repair.

...and here is a pic of a chevy cluster in a gmc dash! :

Well thanks guys gonna go look at it sunday afternoon wants $400 for the complete truck has the V-6 in it gonna take the cab off and try to scrap or sell the rest and it comes with a title has a hoist he said works but the motor wont run he dont know why he said but he bought another truck to replace it so I hope its good.
what did you have to do to get that chevy cluster into the gmc? did you change the whole dash I have talked to a couple of people today at a body shop and they say it could be done and they will do it and the other guy said we can make your chevy cluster fit and look good but be custom
