What's your Winter Goal?

The time I've been around these and other classic truck forums,
I've noticed that many try to do their major work during the rainy season.

There's a thread like this in other classic vehicles forums.

I thought we needed a thread about goals for this winter.

Mine is to get my rear swapped out to the 3.07 12-bolt
And while I'm there, swap out the rear springs for bags.
Some other miscellaneous things,
but those are the two major things I hope to get done this winter.

Re: What's your Winter Goal?

My goal for the summer was to get the patch panels done on the cab floor and rockers and then tip the cab on it's back and strip and coat the bottom and sand the inside of the roof while it's convenient. That didn't get done except for the passenger side, so I will continue to patch the drivers side floor and rockers and get primer on what I can before it gets too cold, unless I can locate a suitable heater for my garage. The next priorities are:
1)finish installing the front calipers, rear drums and brakes, emergency brake cables, and run the brake lines.
2)finish up my rear fuel tank install and run the fuel line to the front.

At the rate I'm going, that should keep me busy through the winter AND next summer.

Re: What's your Winter Goal?

I'd like to have a rolling chassis with engine by the end of winter, and to dabble on the body work a bit.

Re: What's your Winter Goal?

Yeah, things seem to take longer than anticipated.

Next summer (while it's dry and warm) I hope to get started on the body.

Re: What's your Winter Goal?

I'm still down with hip problems but my realistic goal for winter (I hate cold!!) is to get the carb optimized for the cold weather and put the fenders on with the help of my daughters. The younger one is just getting old enough to enjoy getting her hands dirty. She'll be my main little mechanic

Re: What's your Winter Goal?

I haven't touched my truck in months. Too many to count in fact. My goal this winter is to get my truck moved to a new location and work on it on my off time. Now that I am back to work, it's time to get back to work.

Putting the LS drivetrain in and getting it buttoned up by the spring to be my daily driver.

Re: What's your Winter Goal?

Front end rebuild, disk brake kit, new brake lines on the top of the list. Would like to get my new front end dropped on if time permits.

Re: What's your Winter Goal?

Im giving up hope on my 72 truck ever coming home so my winter project will be to add a stereo system to my wifes 72 Malibu convertible ,find the leak in the top mechanism ,and get the speedometer to register correctly . I may do a few small things to my daily driver 74 stepside but mostly just drive it .

Re: What's your Winter Goal?

New tires and hubcaps then lower stance. Maybe replace fenders and rockers if the money situation is right.

Re: What's your Winter Goal?

Shooting for road legal!

She is running decent, and stopping now, just need to get the radiator changed out, redo the wiring, swap out the fluid in the transmission and transfer case, and grease the wheel bearings.

She wont be real pretty to many people, but she'll be rolling down the road for those of us who appreciate true beauty!

Re: What's your Winter Goal?

I think ill try to find a really good hood ( to save on body work) and maybe switch the rear springs to airbags so I can tow something if I am so inclined. Also finish a couple bad body spots that are nagging at me. and drive it in between!

Jason, we think she is damn pretty!

Re: What's your Winter Goal?

Hoping to either start building my engine (found a 4 bolt main 350 on CL for $100!) or start tearing down the front end and rebuilding it. Disc brakes, suspension, etc. I'm in for a busy winter I think...

Re: What's your Winter Goal?

1. Buy a used 5.3 locally.

2. Get the engine/trans mounts fabbed.

3. Finish the frame bracing.

4. Get the bed undercoated, buffed out, polish the side trim, and install wood floor so its ready to go back on the frame.

5. Keep an eye out for a buildable LS2 block.
