Engine Removal Fun =)

Heya! I spent the thanksgiving weekend pulling the 350 outta my 76 donor truck with my father, and we had some fun =) These are in no specific order =)

The tranny got stuck on the floor board - Aceytelyne torch!

Engine mounts all cut up, I love that Aceytelyne torch =)

Finally! got her out!

Engine with the crane on it

Only I am capable of lighting an engine with no gasoline that hasn't run in 13 years on fire

Wow !
I pulled a 6.2 Diesel/TH700R4 out of a Burb & I didn't need a torch !
It was a real PITA to unscrew those bolts holding the engine mounts to the frame , though...

I spent well over 12 hours on that thing... I couldn't go underneith the truck becuase the front end was being held entirely by a pair of jacks, or else the frame of the truck nearly sat on the ground :P not to mention the greace was so thick you could hardly even find the bolts, lol

Sounds like a GOOD time. I had a chance to do a little work with the "blue-tip" wrench myself on the weekend. IMO, there is nothing more cool than rendering steel with fire .

Oh yah, then there's that other cool thing that involves putting the steel back together with high voltage and fire.

Anyway - looks like you had fun - keep it up.

We just celebrated it Man - October 13 was the Holiday Monday. The turkey population north of the 49th parallel has been greatly diminished - mmmmmmmm .

Seriously though, as my avatar says - "Life is Good". We truly have plenty to be thankful for here in North America. One day a year really does not do it justice. Although, I guess we do do it twice between the two contries - still not enough .

Happy Thanksgiving (when your turn comes).

Did it really take 12 hours to yank that out? When i worked for the local wreckers, we could have a pickup stripped to the absolute bare frame in about 8 and that's without a torch. But seeing where your truck sits, i could see you having a bit of trouble getting it out. Ain't destruction fun??? especially when you don't have to worry about putting that truck back together
Looks like you're making some nice progress there Russell. Keep up the great work

Russell if you saw my 80 it would just unmotivate you. It is mainly a work truck right now, the only good body panels left on it is the hood, tailgate and the grill.:p After the rest of it rots away I plan on making a toy out of the drive train, buggy or maybe even putting something unusual on the frame as a project. It still runs great too, main reason I havent scrapped the body yet.

Im thinking of removing the tailgate to have as a spare for my 85. It isnt in the greatest shape, Im in the process of getting the bodywork started on it now. Im just looking for an 89 to 91 burb front clip. The wife keeps telling me I have to wait till after Christmas.

The passenger side inner fender was very badly rotted, but the driver's side appears to be fairly good... I can pull it off for you not this weekend, but next weekend, and would ask that you pay $20 dollars plus shipping.

The inner fender has some very minor dings in it, and from what I can remember from Monday, has minor surface rust, but nothing major... I'll pull it and bring it back up with me next weekend...
