55 3100 headlight wiring
Folks, finally getting back to the truck....now trying to get lights back working...
My head lights have a green, brown and black wire each coming from the light but the connector to the wiring harness only has two wire inserts..wires are blue and purple going to that...I am not sure how to hook this up...the lower parking lights work with only 2 wires....I put a meter to it and I cannot see that power is coming from the harness connect, but this may have something to do with the black wire coming from the headlight....any suggestions? |

Re: 55 3100 headlight wiring
The headlights with three prongs have high beam, low beam and ground.
Here is a link to a wiring diagram that includes relays but it does show how the bulbs them selves are hooked up and may help. http://audi.humanspeakers.com/headlight-simple.htm If you are going to run Halogen lights I'd suggest running relays and putting them close to the core support on the left side of the truck. That really helps save the switches that don't like the amp draw of halogen lights. |

Re: 55 3100 headlight wiring
Each headlight has to be grounded. but quite often the grounds are hooked together with one lead going to ground. One of the Task force guys might be able to tell you where the original ground wires were connected to the body but I'm not all that familiar with the task force trucks.
