Re: my 76 k5 2wd project intros
Very clean start. To do the roadster conversion, you really need a 73-75 windshield pillar. You will also need to reinforce the rockers, so it doesn't flex going down the road. I had a '77 that was cut, but whoever did the conversion didn't reinforce it. You could feel (and see) the doors moving as you drove.
Zimmstoy (Scott) has a '74 project he is parting out that has everything you will need. You might give him a shout. He's in Austin, TX.

Subscribed! It's the twin to my 76 Blazer! Except mine has some rust creeping up on it. I want to see more pics of the full convertible conversion! I also plan on doing that to mine. I already have all the parts from a 73 Blazer to do the switch. Here's mine..

There's three or four layers of sheet metal that make up the windshield pillars. I've started drilling out all the spot welds to separate just the layers that I need. My plan is to swap just the visible layers onto my 76's windshield pillars so hopefully I won't have to compromise the windshield opening and in turn have to rely on a perfect measurement and very good grafting and structural welding skills. I want to basically tack weld the outside layers of the 73 skins to the posts, giving me the interior and exterior mounts needed for the full top without actually cutting into my stock windshield opening. As for the doors, they are the same doors as the pickups or Blazers, just cut and plugged with a piece of plastic trim. The weatherstripping is specific to the 73-75's, so I grabbed that too. I haven't done the mod yet, so I may be missing something, and every other conversion I've seen has involved just cutting and splicing the pillars, but I'm going to try it my own way.. I'll let you guys know how it goes when I work up the courage to rip the top off a perfectly good Blazer. haha Sorry I don't have pics of the parts right now, everything is buried in my garage. As for color, I love the stock two tone look!

Re: my 76 k5 2wd project intros
No no no!!! Please don't make it a truck! If you want a truck badly enough, I'll make a deal with you to trade mine! I just think a nice blazer should stay a blazer!
