New here with a future restore project - '77 2WD K5 Cheyenne
Hey guys. After watching the Overhaulin' show about the '53 Chevy Pickup...got me thinking a lot about the Blazer.
Blazer was purchased by my dad back in '83 down in North Carolina. It was one of the family vehicles until we got to Indiana and was the spare/utility truck. When I turned 16, I could either drive the Blazer or a Pontiac 6000...chose the Blazer for sure! I drove it for a few years until maintenance was too much and she was retired to the chicken coop. That was in '99. She's still in there. The engine was rebuilt in '86. The transmission was rebuilt 4 times. I plan on restoring it back to factory. I'm going to try to keep the 350 motor, rebuild it one more time. Transmission is a TH350 that I want to put a 700R so I can get overdrive. I did cut the dash to fit a modern 1din radio in it...so can't go back now. I know the worthless without pics...so here we go. Darn Racoons!! Mildew is a *****... I absolutely love this truck. I grew up with it and plan on keeping it as long as possible. I remember as a kid help changing spark plugs when I could sit inside the engine bay to do the work....can't quite do that anymore. It'll definitely be a few years before I really get started. I live in Kansas City and the truck is at the parent's house outside of St Louis. I want to do a frame-up restore...so I need some space to do that. Interior stuff won't be too hard. LMC truck is in KC and interior work doesn't take too much space. I've really enjoyed reading some of the posts in here and seeing some of the other 2WD Blazers out there. |

Not everyone has their first car stored at their parents house, I'd be bringing that one home ASAP!
