suburban 1/2 ton vs 3/4 ton weight
Obviously towing capacity is more, but how much more curb weight is a 3/4 ton late '70s 2wd sub vs an equal year 2wd 1/2 ton suburban? Both are 454 equipped.

Re: suburban 1/2 ton vs 3/4 ton weight
My book says that a 1989 Suburban weights as follows:
1/2T 2WD - 4433 1/2T 4x4 - 4675 3/4T 2WD - 4816 3/4T 4x4 - 5128 A 454 would add a couple hundred more pounds.

Re: suburban 1/2 ton vs 3/4 ton weight
wow, i was thinking more in the 6k range.....that makes me feel like my z/28 is a brick at 3600lbs, haha.
i read somewhere the other day that 4wd k5's are in the 4k range too.

Re: suburban 1/2 ton vs 3/4 ton weight
Lol...yeah those factory manual numbers have to be off.....recently we took a load to the dump with a 3/4 4x4 Silverado K20 and empty with two passengers it weighed in at 6820lbs. So with my 90 Suburban weighing in at 7200lbs is probably correct too. And with 8-9 mpg I'd believe it! Lol

Re: suburban 1/2 ton vs 3/4 ton weight
I haven't weighed either of mine, but my 2wd is supposed to be around 4300 and my 4x4 around 5300. The 4x4 does have the heavier 6.2, a small block 4x4 truck should be closer to 5000.

Re: suburban 1/2 ton vs 3/4 ton weight
I have weighed both my half tons, and if that is dry weight ( no fuel) they are right on the money.
