Youre gonna have to do some cutting. Both the dash bezel and the metal dash itself will need to be trimmed out to fit the din size of the radio. Easy way to do it is use the mounting cage the radio comes with, trace it on and trim it up.

Yellow-this is my solution:

This way I can have better sound, play CD's and not have to worry about somebody breaking in to steal my CD player-and, it looks more modern. I've got a huge stash of Theftlok CD players and modded harnesses just for this reason!

Boom.

Mine will be getting an adaptor to plug into the CD player input so I can control my iPod through the radio.

There are plenty of places that sell radio's that fit these trucks that have all the modern options like ipod/mp3 connections, and that option is much better than hacking the crap out of your truck. Do a search on the web.

There are stock replacements but in most cases quality is not the best and functions like cd and look are dated. Measure twice cut and be happy

Re: where can i buy adapter plate for a modern head unit? 1986 K10

I used a piece of black plastic and an installation kit to build up this for my rear tailgate window/defroster and rear heater as well as switch's for my fog lights and heated mirrors. Now I have a nice little cubby hole under the switch's for my remotes. the open hole to the far left and the blank spot next to it are where my heated mirror switch and fog light switch's are at now.

Oh and where I put my double din stereo in my modified overhead console
