about to order springs and need advice
Well today is a big day , after lots of dreaming and looking at everyones cool trucks I want to order springs to be lower.
I have ordered from Brothers with success and they seem to be having a sale / I've got springs 3" for the front and 4" in the back with their shocks and tracking arm. I've got the order que'd up and ready to go w 2 cab corners the total w shipping $511.00 But I wanted to get your ideas and thoughts before I order / It's a 72 base with a 307 and factory white wheels with perfect patina Is that the right combo 3 in the front and 4 in the back / I want the look of most trucks on here , a little lower in the front than the back. what would spindles do ? would it be better to go with spindles? or do they go with the lowered springs ? this truck is just simply for putting around 1972 base c-10 with perfect original blue white patina and I plan to keep my stock wheels painted white |

Re: about to order springs and need advice
I personally don't recommend 3" front springs. Since you have a 72, I would order spindles for the front for 2.5" of front drop and keep the stock front springs and 4" springs for the rear.
I also only recommend buying products from ECE. I don't remember which brand Brothers sells, but I think it's CPP, which I've never been too fond of their products.

Re: about to order springs and need advice
I agree on using spindles, which is what I did. My stuff all came from ECE. If you want it closer to the ground, they also sell a front spring that is 1-inch shorter, making a total of 3.5 inches of drop. The spindles allow for the alignment to be factory spec. Using springs alone, makes it more difficult to achieve that, if at all possible.
That grille looks like it came out of a '63 Comet.

I agree with the above except that,I would also chack with Top Banana since they are closer and springs aren't light.Shipping might drop your price a bit. Also,Modern Cevrolet in Winston/Salem sells parts for this era truck. They may even have them in stock....

Re: about to order springs and need advice
I would recommend a phone call to Stan or Mark at ECE. They are very up to speed on all the options for dropping our trucks and have excellent products in stock. I have their parts on all three of my trucks. Cheers, Pat

Re: about to order springs and need advice
I don't know whose brand they are selling. I am personally going thru GMCPauls since they sell McGaughy's parts. It's $249 thru them for 2 1/2 drop spindles. My personal reason for buying there products is because they are Sema winners, and several companies have tried to steal there design. They are supposed to be the closest to factory design.
They have great reviews on there products. Here is a link to GMCPauls: http://www.gmcpauls.com/Suspension.htm McGaughy's also has a site: http://www.mcgaughystore.com/product...evy-Truck.html Probably best of to call McGaughy's. Kinda hard to navigate there site. Right now they are at the Sema show and nobody was left at there office. But these guy's are my best recommendation to you. I have research them for a little period of time, didn't find anything negative about them or any problems with fitment issues. Good luck on making your decision. If you do choose to order from Brothers, call them and find out whose brand they are selling and if they have them in stock. Research the brand they are carrying to see if anyone has had issue with that product.

Re: about to order springs and need advice
Spindles all the way. Drop springs will be nice to have, yes .. But only do 1" drop if you're going with 4" in the rear. I'd do 2.5" Spindles and 1" drop springs up front with 5" drop springs in the rear. Just me ..
When you do 3" drop springs the alignment will be off to the point it's tough to get it back. With Spindles, you won't even need the $80 alignment. Just an added plus. I'd plan to replace the ball joints while you have it apart. Not an easy task, but it will be well worth your time.
