Re: Front track width.
Im not 100% sure if there the same but I slid a '79 cross member into my '66 and only had to drill out two holes. Bolted up to the frame with no problems.

Re: Front track width.
The track width is about 3/4 in wider. You can got to a later 71-72 rear end and get things evened up or do it with wheel offset. This width measurement is true wether using a later model crossmember or aftermarket, though I "believe" there are a couple of companies offering a narrower track width disc kit.Only people with a good understanding of these trucks will notice. And you since it will be one of those little things you know and it will stick out like a sore thumb to "you".

Re: Front track width.
The track width is 3/4" wider on each side. This is in the control arms, not the crossmember. CCP's modular drop spindle corrects this, but I'm not sure if it corrects the entire 3/4". I swapped the entire crossmember, but if I had it to do over I would have left my crossmember in place and just swapped the control arms and steering components. There are tabs for brake lines on the early crossmembers and I think it would have been cleaner if I had them to use with factory style lines. Just my $.02.
