Custom Dash

Looking for pics and ideas for custom dashes (panels, guages, pads etc.). I was also looking for a picture I once saw on here that had a custom covered and stitched dash. I think it was tan. Let me see what you all have! Thanks

Re: Custom Dash

Only thing I don't like is the seams. But you have to put the seams, there's no way around it.

Agreed, those French seams are sexy. And you don't have to have the seams at all. Our dashes are pretty easy to pull/stretch with a good two way stretch vinyl (or other material).

Re: Custom Dash

what i did... went black with gray stitching to match the doors and seat.

there was a guy at TurkeyDrag last year that grafted in a dash from a 58? Impala. looked killer.

That's it!!!! That's the dash I was referring to, guess I was way off on the color!!!! Thank you! Did you have a local upholstrey shop do that? What was the condition of the dash before that? As I'm looking at my dash now it has many more cracks that I thought and wonder if something like that is even possible in the shape it is currently. Thanks!

Re: Custom Dash

chipped off the flakey cracks, then a light coat of fiberglass over the cracks and speaker holes. sanded smooth, then I took it to a local shop for them to cover.

I know we are talking about different shops but what did your place charge you? That would give me an idea if I even wanna go that route. Mine dash pad looks like it would take a lot of prep work

Re: Custom Dash

looks great 1985-gmc! I'm definately leaning towards that if I can find an upholstery shop to do it for a reasonable price
