Re: Help With Door Weatherstrip
When you guys are talking about the push on type, are you talking about the later model 73-87 push on style?
Here's an image. http://precisionrestorationparts.com.../F33569223.jpg This is the correct 67-72 glue-on style that I sell: http://precisionrestorationparts.com.../F31863208.jpg

There are a couple of sources for push on door weatherstripping for our trucks, but so far no one seems to have found a source with the correct mitred upper corner. It would be awesome if you guys could supply that.

Re: Help With Door Weatherstrip
I can't say that it will work because I've never tried. Most of these types of push on seals are extruded so they do not have any mitered corners.

Re: Help With Door Weatherstrip
Gmc Paul sells the push on style. They do not have mitered corners but nevertheless fit perfectly and are 1000x better than the glue on style

Re: Help With Door Weatherstrip
FYI... The press on seals gmc Paul sells are Precision brand, I believe they are "correct" for either a dodge Dakota or a Chevy s 10. I believe board vendor classic heartbeat (Wes) carries the same ones as well...might want to check with him and see if he ships to Canada

I was just informed by a member that Wes carries the same stuff and is a class act guy and will ship to Canada, just waiting to hear back from him.

Re: Help With Door Weatherstrip
Don't mess with the glue on stuff.. the push on type from GMCPauls is what you want. the mention of 'mitred' at the top means where the two pieces join, you'll want to back cut it a little so when you close the door it has room to 'squish' the seal against the door. If you make it really really tight fit, the door is very hard to close. Ask me how I know
![]() These are worth every penny. I have two trucks, I put these on my GMC and they will be going on my 68 too. Top notch quality.

I think the concern is that the original and repo glue on seals are mitred in that upper front corner to make the sharp bend, and it looks like it might be difficult to fully seat a non-mitred seal in that corner. I could see the seal wanting to round off that tight turn and end up pulling away from the door frame. Thanks!

Re: Help With Door Weatherstrip
you don't need any instructions....just start installing it at the bottom of the door opening about a foot from the back of the door, use the palm of your hand and start hitting the weather strip and with the other hand keep it lined up so the weather strip goes over the part that sticks up from the door opening on the cab....clean the old weather off first, just push it on all around the door till you get back to where you started.
then where it meets cut it off and cut a 45 degree on both side where the air will escape when you close the door....that's it....as far as the vent window bend in the weather strip, you may have to karate chop that area a few times to get it just right.....its easy and the best weather strip known to man.... |

Re: Help With Door Weatherstrip
I tried some from a dakota on mine and I had to literally slam the door closed, and then I couldnt hardly open it. Will be ordering the ones from GMC Pauls next.
