Re: Anybody running lower then 12s QM?

You will need a trans brake.... 550hp+ and 3:91 or higher gears and be as light as possible

Do it will being street able. Very unlikely

Or turbo. Turbo or any boost is always good

Re: Anybody running lower then 12s QM?

Well a big block is to easy. Lol

My definition of daily driver is being able to drive it daily and not want to shoot myself in misery or taking out a loan in gas lol

Re: Anybody running lower then 12s QM?

everyones definition of 'streetable' is different. My Trans Am runs deep into the 11's, while having all the factory ammenities.(A/C, Power everthing, full weight) But it still isn't my daily- nor would I want it to be...but I have driven it from AL to LA for work twice recently, and was comfortable, other than stop and go in New Orlean rucsh hr.(that sucked)

But I do plan to Street/Strip my 92 Silvy reg cab Short bed- and expect to hit 11's fairly easy...But I'll be using the 454, and TH 400 out of my dually in that truck, and lots'o'Nitrous.

Patc has 700r4s that hold 750 hp/tq
Ck performance has 200r4s doing race and street duty with 800tq big blocks and are currently trying to get the first 1000hp capable 200r4.

Don't beleive art carr they talk the talk and can't walk the walk lol they claim to have 1000hp transmissions and show cars making passes with them...once lol

Patc has a first gear planetary that helps the first gear ratio on the 700r4. This makes it quite possible to have a good street/race trans so now you can have your cake and eat it too

Re: Anybody running lower then 12s QM?

Anyone running quicker than 12 seconds with a full size truck is certifiably insane. i'm not kidding.

The exception is those guys who took a new pickup with LS engine and simply put a turbo on it. That's impressive to me.

Guess I'm going to be steak raving mad and insane if I want to meet my goal of 150mph tops speed and also 11.5 in the 1/4 with either a twin turn sbc or Lsx twin turbo swap...while being a daily driver

NOW i think your definition of insane is wierd. its been done in lighter apps totally insane the lighter like top fuel dragsters running low 5s, yet you condem a full size pick up from running lower than 12s?, but we cant do it with a heavy duty vehicle every day driver?

I wouldnt count the N/A 427 6 speed LSX out of the milege goals. in a corvette with six speed producing 450 HP it gets out standing 35 mpg, in a truck, this would be lower 20 mpg. something you can live with, especially if you bought one out of a banged up corvette at a junk yard, all sorts of guys crash corvettes. No need for turbos with a drive line like this

An ls7. I could build a faster Lsx for less than it costs to buy a used ls7 lol

That truck is heavily modified underneath, not just a farm truck someone dumped a regular ol big block in. Pretty sure its a Merlin or Dart block, punched out pretty large, if I remember right.

Got a couple t76 turbo's and a t56 6 speed going behind the big block in my truck soon.....might end up a little quick, I dunno.

really? lol forged internals to handle the turbo, forged pistons and rotating assembly run up into like $3000+ and then the special turbo for your app will probably be brand new i believe, another $1500, special line hone on the main caps, $250 for line hone, aluminum block, dont forget the iron sleeves youl have to have for the block to withstand the boost some where in the ball park of another grand. new fuel injection system to handle boost, thats gonna cost a lil especially when you count the new boosted camshaft, MSDs ignition boxs for the LSX coil packs, (needed even if carbed)...

that sounds good. i like the old big block caddys. anyone got a 500 cube in there pick up? those things are wicked, flat torque line across the table. even with 8.5:1 these 500 cubic inch caddys are pretty torquey. gonna grab me one, one day

Well the patc trans sounds like the way to go, since the 700Rs got the wider gear ratio from 1st to second finally a lil change and more reliability

That would not be very hard to do with a P-Pump Cummins under the hood.
