Dual rear wheel trucks from the factory DID NOT come with coil springs, only leaf springs. Your truck was converted to dual rear wheels but was not made for them. I would convert it back to single rear wheels and see how it operates.

Re: Rear dually inner tire rubbing on right coil spring
Those springs boosters in the coil springs aren't doing you any favors. They can cause the spring to bow. Also, check the clearance between wheels and the frame on both sides to compare the difference. You might have panhard bar issues. Worst case get an adjustable panhard bar and crank it back over till it's even. A set of new coil springs and an adjustable panhard bar will run you less than 200 dollars combined and you'll be good to go.
FYI, I've seen a number of duallys with coil springs and they work fine as long as everything is straight. |

Re: Rear dually inner tire rubbing on right coil spring
TX's advise is exactly what I thought I'd suggest when I saw your 1st post. These rears shift sideways when position is changed on the vertical plane (raised/lowered). It could also be in part due to tires width. You may have tires wider than offered on that model and the rear being shifted is making a difference. Tell us more about your truck. Mainly,is it a C/20 or C/30 and what options show on the SPID (sticker inside glovebox)?
GM did in fact build factory dual rear wheel cab & chassis with coil rear suspension and yours could very well be one. They didn't build C/30s with coil rear, that is true, but did offer a dual rear wheel option on C/20 cab & chassis models. Rare but true.

We have a member here who won truck of the month with a factory coil spring dually. I think his name is Slomotion. Beautiful truck that is.

Re: Rear dually inner tire rubbing on right coil spring
That's cool. I'm still curious what your truck is. Is it a C/20 with dual rear wheel option or did someone do the conversion?

Re: Rear dually inner tire rubbing on right coil spring
70SOL, First off, I would go slowly on modifying your truck until you find out what it is. To expand a little on what Tx Firefighter said, another potential problem is the bushings and or the panhard bar bracket on the frame being worn out. I had to replace everything including the bar because of wear, and rust issues.
Is the SPID on the glove box door? If it's still there, and you see the 4R05AT there's a good chance you have a rare one. Through the good folks on this board, and the mountain of information available here, I have learned that with our trucks there are very few absolute statements that can be made, so when you see an emphatic statement, trust, but verify..... BTW, Tx Firefighter, thank you for the comments!
