Outdoor Compressor?
Anyone keep their compressor outside of their garage? I'm a bit cramped for space and curious if it is feasible to keep the compressor in a utility area. It almost never gets below freezing here and the a spot is sheltered from the rain.
Any thoughts? Maybe build a little soundproof hut for it so my neighbors won't hate me any more than they do at present? Thanks in advance. |

Re: Outdoor Compressor?
I don't see why not if not in super-freezing cold temps...the guys will surely pipe in on limitations due to weather.
Do pay good attention to keeping it drained at least once a day and have a sure way of cutting off power before you leave your garage. I don't know if you have to ventilate the shed (and let out noise). |

Re: Outdoor Compressor?
Sure, lots of people keep larger compressors outside. I would definately build some kind of enclosure around it to keep the weather off. Don't forget to drain it out there...maybe get an automatic drain.

Re: Outdoor Compressor?
only when it was like around 0 did mine start up slow but once going was fine, never been in a warm place. Just have good water filtration. Drain your traps often.

Re: Outdoor Compressor?
you live in cali...lol put that thing outside who cares about nieghbors..
but you'll have to attach the little sticker that reads "operating this compressor in the state of california is known to cause cancer"...lol drain it once and awhile and you'll be fine. |

Re: Outdoor Compressor?
With any compressor you need to drain it every time you're done using it, not just "once in a while". Don't put the compressor somewhere this is going to be inconvenient, unless you have an automatic drain. That is of course unless you want your compressor to blow up and kill somebody....

Re: Outdoor Compressor?
FYI if you have a problem with the noise when inside, hook a pipe or hose to the intake of it and run it outside or down to the floor. That can kep ya from going nuts if your runs allot.
bigger brands actually put mufflers on the intake. |
