You can get something called a safety cap or clamshell cap. It's designed to mount over the valve and regulator assembly to prevent anything from happening to them while in transport. You should be able to get by with this as far as DOT rules are concerned. I mean...if they are going to bust you for the air tank...you have a lot more problems than just that.

I transport cylinders at work everyday. We have to keep proper Dot papers in our trucks at all times listing what is in each and how many you have. Also if they are not in use they have to have a cap. If they are in use they have to have a clamshell style cap that you mentioned. DOT requires anyone who transports or has one in a vehicle to have the required paperwork. I am just wondering if anyone has ever had a problem with carrying one of these as the DOT fine is pretty big!! Also why co2 for air ride.

It's all about speed man. You can crank it up to 500 psi and hop like you can with hydros

Phantom, the 550 is not a sea;ed type comp, that just means that water and dust can get into the motor and create probs, the 450c is sealed and is close to the same rating as the 550, if you mount the 550 out of the elements, or just don't plan to drive in the bad stuff, you should be in great shape....
The major difference in Co2, and Nitrogen is pressure, and Co2 is a liquid oxygen mix that boils to achive pressure (usually around 1500-2000psi) where as the nitrogen is gas that is a constant 2500-5000psi.
In a cold inviornment Co2 has been known to freeze your lines and valves, plus condesation in the bags and lines are always bad.... But either one is fast and is damn fun to hit switches with!!!

I use the C02 cause here in the hot weather it seems to last longer. When it gets hot the mixture expands producing more psi, more switch time.
