i want to plug the kick panel vent
so i never had the air vent function on my truck, it has always been a big hole that blows in road dust into the interior. I am interested in plugging it all to all together. Any ideas or pictures? has anyone rebuild these vents? where would i get the parts? any ideas for a quick and easy way to just plug them up? thanks in advance!

Re: i want to plug the kick panel vent
well if you dont mind eliminating it just weld a piece of sheet metal in there remove any of the bracket if its still there for a flat surface if you cant make it look pretty get a piece of panel board and make a kick panel to hide it all together with some vinyl wouldnt be more than 20 bucks in materials

Re: i want to plug the kick panel vent
thanks for the fast reply, i thought about welding. are these air vents useful? it would be great to find the air vents that manually open and close. not sure what route to take, i may just plug them up for now with some material. thanks again for your input!

Re: i want to plug the kick panel vent
I live in arizona and during the hot seasons its useful for me but if you are getting dirt and stuff in your cab maybe your missing a shield I will look for you tomorrow morn and see how they work I never had an issue with dirt or water or anything If I hit a big puddle if you have ac id plug it or turn it into a 6x9 speaker slot build a box that sticks outside in ur fender or some round 6.5 sweet idea I think

no ac, but it gets hot sometimes. not stereo either, no plans for one. I am thinking it would be nice to have the vents.

Re: i want to plug the kick panel vent
Don't plug the things, fix them. I can't imagine NOT having those vents to bring fresh air into the cab. Vent windows are noisy and rolling a window down would be the only other option.
I've never had an issue with heavy dirt or road dust aside from occasional small leaves and debris that get in through the cowel. You must have missing parts or open holes somewhere in there. Every truck made had those parts and I don't think they would be hard to find or too costly, especially in dry California. |

Re: i want to plug the kick panel vent
I cut an aluminum plate to match the hole and plugged it when i added some tuck and roll kick panels. Looked sharp but it got hot quick inside, needless to say i cut holes in my new kick panels repainted and reinstalled the vents. I say keep em, air circulation is a must when its hot outside.

Don't weld them!
If you have AC, you could block them off with a plate attached with screws or pop rivets, but I would NOT weld the plate in. If your truck doesn't have AC, I would leave them functional...you just need to find the air doors to mount in them so you have control of your airflow.

Re: i want to plug the kick panel vent
during the rebuild of my 66 we took the vent assembly out , took it apart, painted it and repaired as needed then cut out new seals from some rubber stock we had laying around to it seals the edges, put it back together and reinstalled with pop rivets. I do not have A/C in the truck yet and one could not get by without these vents in the summer. Kieth
